Astronomy is jointly administered by the Department of Physics and the Faculty of Pure and Natural Sciences at the University Mayor de San Andrés (UMSA), La Paz. Our Facilities include the “Max Schreier" ” Planetarium, and Patacamaya Observatory.
Our main role is to make astronomy accessible to the community and more specifically to introduce students, of all ages, to our rich astronomical and scientific heritage as well as to increase their understanding of the natural world.
The Planetarium and Observatory have dedicated personnel who are in charge of all activities and developments within the area of Astronomy.
We welcome support and advice from other international institutions and encourage worldwide scientific exchanges and links between ourselves and other similar organizations.
Planetarium is located within the city center in the grounds of UMSA close to the Monoblock building and is situated on Calle Frederico Zuazo no. 1976. Email planetar@astro.edu.bo
